Waco Hike

Texas has some of the best hiking trails! The Waco area is no exception. Many of our real estate agents are avid hikers, and we know that a little bit of cold weather won't stop you from exploring! The key is to choose the best winter hikes around Waco, and we have a few suggestions for you to consider.

Waco homes for sale are in one of the most desirable areas of Texas. Surrounded by natural beauty and packed with plenty of parks, there's always somewhere to go. No matter if you just want a simple walk near home or a complete adventure in the backcountry, there's something to excite everyone around these parts.

Let's take a look at just a few of the many options for winter hiking around Waco, TX:

  • North Waco Riverwalk Trailhead – See Website for Location Information in Waco, TX
North Waco Riverwalk Trailhead is a paved concrete path that brings visitors all around the Brazos River, known as the Heart of Waco. It enables access to both sides of the river and is terrific for hiking. You can head down to Cameron Park or continue your journey to Downtown Waco. The vibrant Brazos River ecosystem is fully intact and alive on the Riverwalk, with opportunities to see unusual birds, insects, fish, and all the rest.

  • Cameron Park – 2601 North University Parks Drive, Waco, TX 76708
Cameron Park is one of the biggest and best parks not only in Waco, but in all of Texas. That's a big claim, but it gets backed up with this "Texas-size" 400-acre park you can access directly from the Riverwalk above. As you wander through this pristine natural landscape, you'll have unparalleled opportunities to see towering oaks, incredible bluffs that provide astounding views of the Brazos River, and some of the best trails in the state.

  • Jacob's Ladder – 2500 Cameron Park Drive, Waco, TX 76708
The "majestic stairway" of Jacob's Ladder is a very unusual hiking experience. Located in the heart of Cameron Park, it's one of the most striking points of interest you shouldn't miss. It was fully renovated in 1963. An iconic zigzag design, cedar railing, and weathered cement steps make it a popular place to take a picture.

  • Lake Waco Dam Hike and Bike Trail – 5776-4120 Airport Road, Waco, TX 76708
Lake Waco Dam Hike and Bike Trail is a multi-use trail near Waco that provides nearly three miles of space for hiking and biking. Ample parking is available off Airport Road so that you can visit from anywhere else in the community. The trail is open all year round from one hour before sunrise until one hour before sunset. Pets may also explore the trail with their favorite humans as long as they are kept on a leash and cleaned up afterward.
